Wash & Care

WASH & CARE

Woven garments, especially if they are handmade, are not governed by the same rules as the rest of our clothing. There are many factors that impact the condition of the fabric, such as the quality of the material and the frequency of use, but personal care plays a fundamental role in the useful life and condition of the garment.

Less is more! The more subtle the wash, the better.

If you want your fabrics to last in perfect condition, apply the following tips:

  • We recommend washing by hand, but if washing is going to be done in a washing machine, it should be a short washing program – special « wool » – and without spinning. This way we make sure not to damage the garment.
  • Always use cold or warm water to maintain the original color of the fiber.
  • The optimal thing is to use liquid, neutral soap and softeners. Do not use bleach, it is usually very abrasive on both industrial and artisanal fabrics.
  • If you choose to wash by hand, ¡10 minutes of soaking is enough! If it takes longer, the fiber will weaken and fade.
  • Do not rub the fabric, rubbing accelerates the thread wear process. If there are stains, focus only on working the dirty areas.
  • Wring without twisting, press in light movements and brief touches, preventing the fabric from stretching and deforming.
  • For streak-free drying, lay on a flat surface.
  • The fabric is usually very versatile, in general ironing is not necessary, ¡we even save this step! But if the garment is made of fine thread or wool and, therefore, its drying/folding marks are noticeable, use a thin handkerchief to avoid direct contact of the iron with the fiber.

We preserve fabrics made years ago and we can say that by following these simple steps your garments will remain impeccable <3
